Accidental Acetaminophen Poisonings Rise

Accidental Acetaminophen Poisonings Rise - Yahoo! News

Tylenol can seem so harmless, which it's why it's so easy to take more than you really should when you're trying to cope with pain. But who wants liver trouble?

Be sure to check the bottle's dosing instructions.

I almost had a problem with this once after surgery. My son started being concerned about the number of Tylenols I was taking - and sure enough, I was starting to push the limit. Lesson learned.

Study is First on Menopause in Gorillas

Study is First on Menopause in Gorillas - Yahoo! News

This headline struck me. Especially considering all the King Kong we've been having lately.

Hmm, I wonder if gorillas also get PMS? I wouldn't want to mess with a gorilla with a bad case of PMS.

Dark chocolate may cut heart disease risk: study

Dark chocolate may cut heart disease risk: study - Yahoo! News

Now, I like this news story. Yet another thumbs-up for dark chocolate.

"A few squares of dark chocolate every day might cut the risk of serious heart disease by helping to stave off the hardening of arteries..."

I could do that!

Note that there still is that calories issue, although...darn it.

Many Teens Would Flunk Treadmill Tests

Many Teens Would Flunk Treadmill Tests - Yahoo! News

About a third of U.S. teens. I knew kids weren't as slim and fit as in the past, but, jeez.

We Americans are really too fat, unfit, and eat too much unhealthy food. We can do better, really we can. (Time to check my own B.M.I.)

Christmas Interactive eCard [Making Christmas Cookies Online]

Christmas Interactive eCard

Gives a whole new meaning to computer cookies.

And you didn't think you could squeeze some Christmas cookies through your computer to someone else's? Think again.

This is for lazy moms and grandmas, um, like me. What's really missing here is the taste and smell. Gee, it could inspire me to make some real ones...?

Christmas Humor - What If It Had Been 3 Wise WOMEN??

What If It Had Been 3 Wise WOMEN??

Do you know what would have happened if it had been three Wise
Women instead of three Wise Men ?

Women would say:

They would have asked directions, arrived on time, helped deliver
the baby, cleaned the stable, made a casserole, and brought
practical gifts.

Here's Men's rebuttal.....

Yeah, and do you know what they said would have said when they
left?

"Did you see the sandals Mary was wearing with that gown?"

"That baby doesn't look anything like Joseph!"

"Can you believe they let all of those disgusting animals in the
house?"

"I heard that Joseph isn't even working right now!"

"And that donkey that they are riding has seen better days too!"

"Want to bet on how long it will take until you get your casserole
dish back?"

At the Aquarium on Yahoo! News Photos [Mother & Baby Dolphins]

At the Aquarium on Yahoo! News Photos

I like babies. I like dolphins. Maybe you do, too?

I'll never forget the day I went out on a whale watch boat and the ocean was just full of dolphins. They were jumping and playing and following after us like dozens of frisky, friendly puppies glad to see us. After seeing dolphins in tanks all my life it was great to see the dolphins free and wild in their natural environment.

Risky Gift-Giving [A Funny]

From my E-Mail, from my son-in-law Tom...

HO HO HO or UH OH

A husband was in big trouble when he forgot his
wedding anniversary [Christmas could be substituted - 'tis the Season].

His wife told him "Tomorrow there better be something
in the driveway for me that goes zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat".

The next morning the wife found a small package in the
driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Funeral arrangements for the husband have been set for
this Saturday.

Young Adults Admire Boomers - Sometimes

Young Adults Admire Boomers - Sometimes - Yahoo! News

An interesting look at the generations.

Frankly, I'm more disappointed in my Boomer generation than impressed. What happened to the better world we were going to create? I remember as a teenager (1963 - 1969) how we were so critical of our parents' generation for their materialism, conformity, hypocrisy, and lack of idealism. We made fun of their "ticky-tacky" suburban tract houses (which so many of us were lucky enough to be housed in, as I look back on it now). Did we grow up to be better adults than our parents? Overall, probably not. Probably our greatest achievement so far has been in the area of equality - racial and gender. No longer is it necessary to be a white male to matter in our society. No small thing, but we should have done so much more...

From the article above:

"They both love boomers — and love to hate them. They see a talented, successful and outspoken generation that also can be hopelessly dismissive and self-absorbed.

They are awed and sometimes intimidated by baby boomers' accomplishments and a generation so larger-than-life that some of its most famous members are known by only one name — Madonna, Oprah, Bono — or nicknames such as "W" and "The Donald."

But at times, they also see boomers as a bunch of hypocrites who were challenged to "ask what you can do for your country" and ended up focusing on what was in it for them."

That last sentence is definitely an ouch, but, sadly, all too true.

(It's still not too late, Boomers! We can do better. We can still redeem ourselves. Better hurry up, though.)

The Christmas classic that almost wasn't

The Christmas classic that almost wasn't - Yahoo! News

Good grief, Charlie Brown!

IMO, it's among the better Christmas specials.

Note that the TV ratings for the old chestnut "Rudolph" animation were really quite good this year. I was surprised at how good. These are evergreens.

Enjoy my Christmas section

http://www.carolynhmayer.com/wazzup.htm#Christmas_Section - the link to my website's silly Page (The Wazzup Page)'s Christmas section.

Something I've been especially excited about of late (I'm just a big old kid, really) is the house with the musical Christmas lights which has been creating buzz around the Web. I have much about this in my Christmas section, of course with links so you can see and hear all about this festive house.

You might want to keep checking back to the Christmas Section, as it's something I keep adding to throughout the Holiday Season.

Enjoy. Happy Holidays!
