Jury: Merck negligent [Time for Big Drugs to take more responsibility]

Jury: Merck negligent - Aug. 19, 2005

Merck asked for it.

Now, time to nail those makers of the HRT drugs!

(I could join in on a class-action suit regarding this, but am being reluctant - why drag all that cancer nastiness back up again, when I'd so rather put it behind me!)

Diaper sparks bomb alert

Diaper sparks bomb alert - Yahoo! News

On account of its beeping to alert wetness. On first read, I immediately thought of a nasty poopy diaper that had aged a bit, as in stink bomb.

Mothers, you've been there.

CNN.com - Crawford troopmemorial desecrated

CNN.com - Crawford troopmemorial desecrated - Aug 16, 2005

Regardless of what one may think of Cindy Sheehan, regardless of whether one supports the Iraq War or not, regardless of whether one supports Bush or not, this is plain wrong.

1. I don't like seeing crosses run down and broken. It offends me as a Christian.

2. This is, essentially, running down a memorial to our troops killed in Iraq. Spitting in the eyes of their families, spitting in the eyes of our troops still in that hell called Iraq.

I'm really glad the guy got arrested. Ha - he got caught because one of the crosses busted his tire. Somehow appropriate, eh?

5 Back-to-School Styles to Steal From Kids/2005 Fall Fashion

5 Back-to-School Styles to Steal From Kids

For the most part I like these new Fall styles.

That is, except for what they call "distressed" jeans. Pay that much money for something not even good enough for your rag bag?!

Most of these "new" fashion items I've worn before. Gauchos? Had 'em in the '70s, romantic blouses? The '80s. Still might have one or two - too small now, however (daughters might be interested??), Bohemian? Just another word for the hippy stuff we loved in the mid-'60s to late-'70s (just prior to all that awful polyester, leisure suits, etc.). I'm glad to see Bohemian/Hippy back - I always did like that stuff! How about those long East Indian-style skirts coming back again? (for the third time, but hurray, just the same).

Old Grandma Hardcore - the Matriarch of Video Games

Old Grandma Hardcore

Warning: This Grandma featured is a foul mouth. Whew - I thought my college student son was bad.

Well, now I'll go back to my "Bejeweled" @ Yahoo Games. I yearn to reach Level 5 again. BTW, anybody play "Sudoku", from the newspaper? I've been torturing myself with that almost nightly (Why? Yes, I do wonder about that myself sometimes.)

About Women... A couple of nifty quotes

Some good quotes about women I received from Sara in the E-Mail:

I refuse to believe that trading recipes is silly. Tunafish casserole is at least as real as corporate stock.
~Barbara Grizzuti Harrison

Women are not the weak, frail little flowers that they are advertised. There has never been anything invented yet, including war, that a man would enter into, that a woman wouldn't, too.
~Will Rogers

Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.
~Charlotte Whitton

Watch Me Change from Gap - create a virtual you, and then some

Watch Me Change

This is a kick. Yes, make yourself (or make yourself into whomever you wish, even changing gender), pick out an outfit, then do a dance, strip-tease, and at the end prance out of the dressing room like you're some kind of hot stuff in your new outfit.

Note that the strip tease only goes down to your underwear. This is the Gap store, not a porn site!

Have fun with it.

New study widens pill risks, benefits for cancer

New study widens pill risks, benefits for cancer - Yahoo! News

Could have told you so. I'm convinced - as well as my medical people, it seems - that my use of HRT was related to the breast cancer I've had.

From the article...

"...group of 21 scientists elevated the warning on hormonal menopausal therapy to "carcinogenic" from "possibly carcinogenic."

The scientists concluded, based on an expanded study, that "combined menopausal
therapy" increased the risk of breast cancer and in some cases endometrial cancer. "

You know, I'm still wondering if I should join in on this class action lawsuit regarding Prempro I saw advertised in the newspaper. . .? I've been reluctant because I'd rather not get involved with lawyers, as well as recalling the disturbing details of my breast-cancer past.

Anyway, beware of hormone meds, ladies.
